New cleanroom now operational at Qioptiq Göttingen facility


Göttingen, 12 December 2012: Qioptiq production has gone live in a new
cleanroom at its Göttingen site. The budget for this investment, along with a
related chiller and heat reclamation system, was around 900,000 Euros. This
has resulted in an increased cleanroom size which is used to assemble complex
optical systems at the Göttingen site from 104 m² to 254 m².

The SAKER project team at Qioptiq Ltd. in St. Asaph, UK, have recently received accolades from the British Engineering Excellence Awards as 2012 Design Team of the Year.

Bernd Schnakenberg appointed Qioptiq Executive Vice President
and Managing Director at Qioptiq Photonics in Germany


Luxembourg, 2 May 2012 – Today, Bernd Schnakenberg (49) starts his new position as Managing Director of Qioptiq Photonics GmbH & Co. KG, Germany. At the same time he has been appointed Qioptiq Executive Vice President (Qioptiq Photonics Germany) and a member of the Executive Committee. Qioptiq designs and manufactures photonic products and solutions that serve a wide range of markets and applications in the areas of medical and life sciences, industrial manufacturing, defense and aerospace, and research and development.

Bernd Schnakenberg is an internationally experienced manager. He has held various management positions, mainly in the field of medical technology – one of Qioptiq’s core commercial businesses.

Qioptiq supports the Michael Kidger Memorial Scholarship in Optical Design
Qioptiq, UK, February 20, 2012 - The Michael Kidger Memorial Scholarship is intended for students in the U.K. who are working towards a degree or doctorate in optical design of either imaging or non-imaging systems. The aim of the programme is to recognise a student’s talent during the early phases of his or her career.

The scholarship is an independent scholarship administered by a select committee of leading optical designers and the Michael Kidger family. Andy Wood, Technical Director at Qioptiq UK, is currently the chair for the Kidger Scholarship Committee.

The Michael Kidger Memorial Scholarship was established in 1998 to honour Michael John Kidger, a well-respected educator, design software developer and member of the optical science and engineering community.

LUXEMBOURG, January 23, 2011 — Qioptiq today released its report about 2011 and addressed prospects for the year ahead. 2011 was a reasonable year for Qioptiq.   Sales increased compared to 2010 and profitability remained stable.  The company experienced growth in civil markets and a reduction in its night vision business.
