Point Source to Rebrand as Qioptiq

Company announces rebrand as parent company, Qioptiq,
moves all subsidiaries to one common identity

Point Source, a member of the Qioptiq Group, today announced it is to
rebrand as Qioptiq as part of Qioptiq’s overall brand refresh and rebranding
of its subsidiary companies.

Qioptiq, which acquired Point Source in 2008 is a global company that designs
and manufactures photonic products and solutions.

“Point Source, which is currently operating under its own name and logo, will
rebrand in line with Qioptiq’s overall rebranding strategy, which is part of a set
of broader efforts to better serve our customers and make it easier to do business
with us,” said John Lowe, General Counsel and Director of Communication
for Qioptiq.

Lowe continued: “The rebranding of Qioptiq subsidiaries will include the usual collateral and stationery updates one would expect in such an exercise. In addition, we will be launching one global Qioptiq website, which will see the entire Point Source portfolio of products and services represented on the site, not just to reflect one new, overall company style, but more importantly to make it easier for site visitors to find what they are seeking.”

Point Source is the world leader in Flexible Laser Technology™ for precision optical instrumentation. In April 2009, the company was awarded a Queens Award for Enterprise in recognition of its achievements in international trade. The company increased its overseas revenues by 86% in the three years leading up to the award and sold an impressive £33 million of exports during that period.

Point Source Managing Director, Ian Alcock said: “Since becoming part of Qioptiq in 2008, we have welcomed being part of a larger organization; sharing common goals to better serve out clients. Our rebrand from Point Source to Qioptiq is the next natural step for us to take and we look forward to the prospect of truly becoming
one company.”

The ‘outgoing’ Point Source logo is to be replaced by Qioptiq’s new ‘green flash’ logo.

Despite the very difficult economic environment, Qioptiq also announced strong numbers for FY 2009. Qioptiq was able to increase its sales over those of 2008 by two percent at constant exchange rates.  Sales were close to US$ 400 million. Order intakes were significantly above that level and the book-to-bill ratio for 2010 is close to 1.2. In addition, Qioptiq maintained profitability at a similar level to 2008 and is strongly cash-generative at the operating level.
