High Power 488nm Fiber-Coupled Laser
Diode at Photonics West 2010

Qioptiq will be demonstrating a brand new high power fiber-coupled 488nm laser
diode at Photonics West (Booth 1523).

The fiber-coupled 488nm laser diode features an output power of 30 mW, a circular, Gaussian and non-astigmatic output beam and a direct, analogue modulation capability of up to 5 MHz with a sub 100 ns rise and fall time. The well proven ultra-low noise electronics and forward power monitoring adopted on all Point Source laser diode products is employed to deliver noise performance of less than 0.15% rms and better than 2% long term stability. The unit can be delivered as a stand-alone product in the highly successful iFLEX-2000™ package or integrated into higher-level Point Source products such as the iFLEX-Viper™ multi-laser engine.

The fiber-coupled 488nm laser diode is compatible with the entire range of Point Source laser products and can be operated with a number of commercially available imaging software packages such as Olympus cell^R™, MetaMorph® and μManager and a number of add-on interfaces ensure a complete solution for all microscope systems.

With higher power now available and excellent levels of control and modulation; this new model of Point Source’s highly successful iFLEX2000™ product range becomes even more accessible for use in applications such as FRET, FLIM and TIRF as well as offering a more compact, fiber delivered 488nm source with better levels of reliability and optical performance than previously available technology making the product ideal for instrument manufacturers.
