Qioptiq’s manufacturing facilities are equipped with modern, state-of-the-art machinery. Underpinning the Group’s high-precision and quality production capabilities are key manufacturing technologies:

  • Optics: grinding and polishing of optical glass and crystalline materials; injection moulding of polymer optics; diamond turning of optical surfaces.
  • Thin-film coating: vacuum physical vapour deposition; vacuum ion beam sputtering.
  • Holography: dichromated gelatine and photopolymer replication.
  • Mechanical components: precision milling and turning of state-of-the-art compounds, metals and plastics.
  • Optomechanical assembly: precision cementing; optomechanical alignment and referencing; functional and environmental testing
State-of-the-art CNC equipment is used extensively for the production of high precision metal components, and accurate spherical, aspherical and flat optical components. This technology ensures the high degree of accuracy and efficiency demanded by volume production as well as the flexibility and deterministic processing for production in small volume.

All Qioptiq facilities have achieved ISO 9001 Quality Certification status, and in addition, our St. Asaph and Singapore facilities have achieved ISO 14001 Environmental Certification.
