Our organization was created in December of 2005 when Candover purchased the High Tech Optics business units operating in the UK, Singapore, USA, Germany and Hungary from the Thales Group. The Qioptiq Group is a unique, international network of optics companies addressing defence, industrial, medical, aerospace, scientific, projection and telecommunications markets with optical systems, modules, subassemblies and components.

The Qioptiq Group comprises a number of companies throughout the world. Many of these companies enjoy enviable worldwide reputations and our history can be traced back more than 100 years.

In June 2007, we announced we had completed the necessary legal and administrative processes for the acquisition of LINOS.  Whilst there are still further legal steps in merging the two Groups, from a practical perspective the two companies now act as one.  We are very pleased to welcome the LINOS organization and its employees into the Qioptiq Group.

More recently, in March 2008, we announced the completion of Qioptiq's acquisition of Point Source - the world leader in Flexible Laser Technology™ for precision optical instrumentation. We are very pleased to welcome them into the Group and we will be making full use of their excellent laser capabilities.

With over 3400 employees and growing annual sales in excess of $360M (USD), Qioptiq is one of the major world players in optics. Significant growth was achieved in 2007 and we see such growth continuing well into the future.

With capabilities ranging from high-precision visible and infrared assemblies to advanced optical coatings… and from machine vision and micro-optics to polymer components… we are able to offer our customers unrivalled access to optical technology.

Within Qioptiq both technology and design innovation are exploited successfully to manage light.
